Located in the heart of Nürnberg, at Peter-Vischer-Straße 3, Zeitungscafe Hermann Kesten is the quintessential café that seamlessly combines a rich literary atmosphere with delectable treats. Nestled within one of the city’s charming libraries, this café is a haven for book lovers and coffee enthusiasts alike.

As you step inside, you're greeted by a delightful aesthetic that feels both cozy and slightly nostalgic, evoking the spirit of a traditional café with a modern twist. The ambience is quietly enchanting, with an inviting atmosphere that encourages you to linger a little longer. Customers have praised the serene environment—ideal for sipping coffee and diving into a good book. The inner courtyard garden truly shines as a gem during the summer months, offering a magical retreat surrounded by captivating medieval architecture.

The café menu features a modest selection tailored for leisure, including light sandwiches, comforting soups, and an assortment of cakes that beckon with their irresistible allure. A standout, as shared by many visitors, is the cherry cake; its rich sweetness coupled with a perfectly brewed coffee creates a harmonious blend that’s both satisfying and indulgent. The refreshing quiche is another option that has garnered positive reviews, boasting flavors that resonate well with the café's charm.

Feedback from patrons highlights the café's serene terrace where customers can bask in the beauty of the courtyard—a true delight for those looking to relax. 'Go directly to the terrace, it’s just magical there,' remarked one visitor, which encapsulates the essence of the outdoor experience. While some guests have noted that the offerings might not be as extensive as they’d hoped, the tranquil atmosphere and quality coffee more than compensate for it. For a café situated within a library, this unique pairing makes your visit feel special—an experience where sipping coffee and enjoying a sweet treat become part of your literary journey.

However, it's worth noting that some patrons have expressed a desire for a broader menu selection, hinting at the potential for this café to elevate its already admirable offerings even further. The self-service nature of the establishment has drawn mixed feelings, particularly regarding an automated tipping system that some found less welcoming.

In conclusion, Zeitungscafe Hermann Kesten isn’t just a place to grab a quick bite; it's an experience that invites you to unwind, indulge, and appreciate the finer things in life—like a curated selection of newspapers, perfectly brewed coffee, and scrumptious cakes. If you find yourself in Nürnberg, this café is a must-visit, especially as the seasons change and the courtyard comes alive with the vibrant energy of summer.

I like this place for it's cake and coffee. I wish they had more food options. The ambience is very cosy and the courtyard during summer is perfect location for reading books .

The coffee was decent. The highlight is the calm atmosphere in the beautiful inner yard garden.

Library cafe with beautiful court yard garden surrounded by medieval architecture. Menu includes sandwiches, soup, and cake. All ok but nothing special - feels like they don't have to try very hard because of the regular footfall from library visitors. All in all a beautiful spot for a coffee, especially in summer. Access and exit is via the library.

The atmosphere is so amazing there. Go directly to the terrace, it’s just magical there. Coffee was delicious and quiche was tasty. What was not nice is the machine that asks for tips in a fully self service cafe.

Very cozy, somewhat old school and charming Caffè with a wide variety of newspapers and a pretty view on an inner green courtyard. Tried a cherry cake and some coffee here. The cake was delicious and so filling that I had no trouble skipping lunch that day. It's a plus that it's basically inside the library, which just adds to the unique atmosphere. Definitely recommend.
